Our little Bryn loves accessories! She is all the time wanting to put on hats, shoes, and other peoples' clothes to play dress up. Carson never did this! I was getting ready the other day and came out of the bathroom to see her in this....

Thank you!

Our family is truly blessed to have such amazing single women love on, nurture, and babysit our kids! I am so encouraged by the way they take an interest in our children and therefore how they minister to me! The following is a post from the girl talk blog today and I have to give it a big AMEN as I too am so thankful for the young women in my life who have served me numerous times as they nurture my children. You absolutely know who you are!!!!!

Nurturing Children

In the past week, we’ve considered the single woman’s relationships to men and what kind of friends she should pursue. But there’s one more relationship that it is a great deal in the single season: children.

You can express your femininity by nurturing children. In Genesis 1, we see that male and female were created to be fruitful and multiply. As women we are created to be life-bearers. Our bodies have been designed with the ability to mother—to receive, to carry and bear children, to breast feed. Our body prepares itself repeatedly to conceive and bear young.

So, how does a single woman enter into the meaning of motherhood if she doesn’t have children of her own? How does she express her femininity as life-bearer, as nurturer?

Elisabeth Elliot answered this question:

“A single woman can have children! She may be a spiritual mother, as was Amy Carmichael [missionary to orphans in India], by the very offering of her singleness, transformed for the good of far more children than a natural mother may produce.”

Single women, you can express your femininity in this season of your life by nurturing other people’s children.

When you babysit, you are giving expression to your femininity. When you take an interest and reach out to children in your sphere of relationships, you are displaying your God-given gift of femininity.

And may I say “thank you” on behalf of all of us mothers! Thank you for the way you nurture our children. Thank you for the countless times you have served us through babysitting. Thank you for the way you have loved our children as if they were your very own. It means so much to us!

However, you are doing more than just blessing us, you are honoring God by giving expression to the nurturing aspect of your femininity

Happy Valentine's Day

"We love because he first loved us." 1 John 4:19

Today we enjoyed being together as a family. We originally had plans to go out on a date and leave the kids with a babysitter but with Bryn being sick and just wanting to be home for the day we decided to stay home and celebrate together as a fam. We did a lot of house work today which felt good! Thank you my Valentine for loving me and our kids so well and being man enough to clean bathrooms:) You serve me well! I love you so much!

Our girls

We had a nice dinner together...even broke out the fine china! And the beautiful flowers are from Jeremy & Carson to the girls.

sick little girl

Starting around Tuesday Bryn has been fighting a fever and cough. Because the weekend was approaching (didn't want to risk not being able to see the doctor) I decided to go ahead and take her to see the doctor on Friday. I had given her some Motrin that morning but by the time we went to the doctor that afternoon her temperature was 104 degrees! Turns out she has strep throat:( I'm SO glad I took her! She slept well last night but still had a fever this morning (about 103) so we've been giving her the antibiotics, Motrin and Tylenol! Please pray for our Bryn to feel better soon.

Last day of basketball

Today was Carson's last day of basketball and they had a big surprise for the kids....

Way to go Carson!

Around the House

Dressing up

Carson and I have been working through a book together to help him learn to read. We are about half way through the book and he is doing great sounding out words and learning to write his letters. I am thankful for this book recommendation because I would have no clue how to teach someone to read the crazy English language!

Lydia still doesn't quite have this eating thing down yet...hopefully practice will make perfect.

Starting solids (and toes)

I finally broke down and started solids with Lydia today! I didn't have rice cereal on hand, I had to run in the drug store on my way home this morning to get a box of rice cereal. Once again I'm seeing how different things are with my third compared to my first baby. With Carson I was so excited about starting solids and had all my "equipment" ready well in advance and started him earlier than I really needed to because I was so excited. Now, with Lydia, I'm starting solids just to be a rule follower as they tell you to start between 4 and 6 months. Well, today she is 6 months and we started!

What is this in my mouth?

not really liking it:(

and out it came

What she really likes these days are her feet!

Lydia is 6 months

Lydia is 6 months today! She is an absolute joy (well...except when she spits up on me, yuck!)! We are really enjoying her and love seeing more and more of her personality come out. Love this age!

Myrtle Beach

For almost a year now Jeremy has been the interim BCM (Baptist Campus Ministry) leader at Clemson while that ministry has been looking for a new leader. Jeremy has done a great job filling this need and we have been thankful for the opportunity to serve in this way and get to know some of those students. This past weekend was the BCM Converge conference in Myrtle Beach. Jeremy had to be there so we all decided to go. I figure it's better to be together away from home than be home without Jeremy. We had a good weekend being together and I enjoyed the break from cooking and cleaning:)

We enjoyed some good seafood!

Carson was serious about eating his crab legs

Our laid back third baby

We had to walk down to the beach once

I think this was Lydia's first time at the beach

Bryn and I had some sweet time together while Lydia was napping and Carson was at the meeting with Jeremy

And we ended the weekend with some sleepy kids!

Friends

Last week one of my dear friends, Sage, came to visit with her two boys, Wyatt & Walker. We had a sweet time together catching up and being together. We let Carson & Wyatt have a little slumber party in Carson's room. While we were getting them ready for bed I couldn't resist taking a picture of them in their matching pull-ups. So cute!

The next day we met Cayce & Brandy with their kids at the church to let all the kids to play. It's pretty crazy that between us 4 girlfriends there are 12 kids!
