Black Mountain

We just returned home from 4 nights at the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly in Black Mountain, NC for the Summer Link Directors Training and the Generation Link Retreat. It was a great time of fellowship and training. Matt Rogers taught the morning class on Evangelism. I am so thankful for this time to be a part of Jeremy's ministry and watch him lead. I am spurred on by the environment and conversations with others.

The first day the kids and I went on a little hike near the house with some other moms and their little ones. It was fun to see my kids enjoy and love on the little kids.
I'm so thankful that our kids get to grow up going on trips like this. Carson especially folds right in and enjoys hanging with the guys. Love that our kids have people like this as role models for them as they grow up. Thankful for how people interact and pursue our kids!

The group went on a hike together and played LOTS of cards! Spades seemed to be the game of the week!
It was a great time with residents, summer link directors, and area directors being equipped and trained! Proud of my hubby and his leadership too!

Seattle Ministry Trip

After a great trip to Miami we boarded a plane to literally cross the USA to Seattle.  We also have a new partnership with a church plant in Seattle called Essential Church.  This is the second summer that a summer link team has been in Seattle partnering with Warren (lead pastor) at Essential so we were excited to partner with them and learn about Seattle!
It was a LONG flight and Ryan had a good nap so naturally we had to take selfiies with him:)

This was the view from the plane as we approached Seattle!  Beautiful Mount Rainier!

For our first few nights we stayed with the summer link team at the Purple Door.  This is an old fraternity house right next to the University of Washington that is now used to house different missions teams at a very low cost.  It's dorm style living with communal living areas.  It was fun staying there with the team!
The Purple Door (summer link housing)

After the team showed us around the Purple Door we all walked around the campus of UW.  It's a beautiful campus!

Some pictures from the campus:

I have a whole new appreciation for evergreens!

This is on their campus....look how the fountain is perfectly lined up with Mount Rainier!

One of the days Ryan, Amy, Jeremy, and I went to see Snoqualmie Falls near Seattle.  It was breathtaking!

We enjoyed joining the team as they did their study one morning.  They are a great team and really enjoyed getting to know them better!  They are doing a great job partnering with Essential and serving that church plant well!
After the study we headed to the city for the day!  It's such a beautiful city!

The Space Needle

The Public Market where everything sold there is local!  It was so fun!  The seafood, produce, and flowers were amazing!

Next to the market is the famous gum wall where people stick their chewed up gum on wall.  So gross!

The first Starbucks is right next to the market.  We had to go buy some pike place coffee (you can only get it here) and get a drink!

The view from the end of the market!  Amazing!

We went up to the observation floor of the Columbia Center to see an aerial view of the city.  It was so beautiful!

While we were there a couple different missions teams came in to also partner with Essential Church.  One day we joined in with the summer link team to do a car wash to serve the community and share about upcoming sports camp and the church services.  It was a neat way to get exposure and meet people in the community.

We also got to join the summer link team at a Mariners game in Safeco Field.  It was really fun and we also got some neat shots of the city from the stadium.

We were thankful to be there for a Sunday morning.  Right now the church is meeting in a boys and girls club in town.  This was an unusually big sunday for the church because of the different groups being in town.  It was exciting to be there this Sunday!

They also served a lunch to everyone who came that Sunday.  It was a great morning celebrating God's work in this community!

We really enjoyed getting time with Ryan and Amy in Seattle!

We had a great time in Seattle!  It's a fun and beautiful city.  We are so encouraged by the ministry of Essential Church and we are proud of the ministry the summer link team is participating in.
