Our School Room

I had a friend ask me recently to take pictures of our school room & share.  So this blog post is for her and anyone else who may be interested.  It's really nothing fancy and it still has a ways to go as our family and needs change and grow.  But I'm extremely grateful for a space to do school!

We do school in our bonus (above the garage) room.  This is taken from the top of the stairs looking into the room.

This is to the left when you walk up stairs.  We have a calendar and weather chart.  We have art work displayed on a string.  Back in that little nook to the left is our easel for art work.

Along the wall/ceiling is the alphabet and also the 50 states in order of when they became a state.
These are some signs I printed from pinterest.  The pencil/crayon holder bar is from Ikea.

Wall map and above it is our white board we use for spelling (we use All About Spelling)
We have started using that tray for their finished work.  Each week or so I take it and put it into each of their notebooks.  The bookshelf needs some work....need to get old stuff out and make room for all the new books we are accumulating.
Another world map, American flag, and the Pledge of Allegiance.
We use this cabinet for games and crafts mostly.
Along the other wall/ceiling is a timeline with some major events from the Bible and American History that we've studied.

I love these!  This was a huge improvement to our school time routine!  These are from Ikea and I've given each kid 2 drawers to keep their books and daily assignments.  This has allowed me to say "go start your individual work" and they go to their drawer and get the stapled together sheets for the week (math, handwriting....etc.).  This has helped with independence and organization big time!  And I need all the help I can get!
This was also a Pinterest find.  It's just a shoe organizer to keep school supplies.  Don't look in this closet!!!!  Hand me down central!  There is also a book shelf in the closet with books and materials.
And there you have it!  Nothing fancy but works for us now and I'm thankful for our little space!
