I loved these lines from "Jesus Saves" that we sang this morning at church:
He will die our burdens bearing
Jesus Saves
Jesus Saves
It is done will shout the cross
Christ has paid redemption’s cost
While the empty toub’s declaring
Jesus Saves
Freedom’s calling
Chains are falling
Hope is dawning
Bright and true
Day is breaking
Night is quaking
God is making
All things new
JESUS SAVES
Oh to grace how great a deptor
Jesus Saves
Jesus Saves
All the saints who shout together
Jesus Saves
Jesus Saves
Rising up so vast and strong
Lifting up salvation’s song
The redeemed will sing forever
Jesus Saves
I also really enjoyed reading in James today and doing my study "Faith" by Keri Folmar. After studying James 2:14-17 she closes the day saying:
Read and meditate on 1 John 1:5-9. Verse 9 tells us that God is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness if we confess our sins. God created us to live for him, but we have all turned away from him and lived for ourselves. Romans 6:23 says that the wages of sin—turning away from God and living for ourselves—is death. But verse 23 continues, "the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." God sent his Son, Jesus, to pay our wages for us. He died on the cross, taking God's wrath—the punishment for our sins—and rose from the dead, showing he had conquered sin and death. You can have this free gift of eternal life in Christ by confessing your sins and putting your trust in Christ's finished work on the cross. The result will be, not a perfect life, but a transformed life characterized by faith that works.
So thankful for Christ's work on the cross and conquering death so that I may be a recipient of eternal life! What grace!
